GALs WORLD WISHES ALL AFRICANS A HAPPY AFRICAN UNION DAY
Today marks a very important occasion on the continent of Africa as we celebrate Pan Africanism and exemplary leadership.
Exactly today on the 25th of May 1963, 33 independent African states met and realized Africa must unite in order to realize it’s Renaissance.
The Organisation of African Unity (OAU) was formed in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia which later became the African Union (AU) on the 26th of May 2001 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and launched in South Africa on the 9th of July 2002 with a member increase to 55 independent African countries.
This shows how Africa has tremendously grown over the past years because of visionary and vibrant leadership with total dedication and competence exhibited by our Pan Africanist across the continent.
Fifty five years on (55) years on today, we have the great opportunity to celebrate this memorable Occasion. Africa must instill in her youth, the spirit of Pan Africanism, patriotism among others which would make Africa the best continent in the world.
We borrow the words of the leading Pan Africanist, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah which says ” we must show the world that after all the black man is capable of managing his own affairs”.
On this day, we have to reminisce the struggles of our pioneers and how far we have come and can go as a continent. We have inculcate their selfless, visionary and patriotic values from that could contribute into make Africa Self-reliant in all spheres.
Today, we stand proudly to applaud the achievements of our Pan African Leaders who looked beyond their own limitations to birth the peace and freedom we are currently enjoying.
Lets all continue to unite and help make Africa Great again.
Happy African Union Day
