His decision comes at a time he was caught in Tiger Eye PI’s latest documentary.

The latest piece titled, “Galamsey Fraud” released by Anas Aremeyaw Anas on Tuesday February 27, 2019, exposes persons “stabbing” President Akufo-Addo in the back in his fight against illegal mining (galamsey).

Charles Bissue who happens to be one of such people, according to the documentary, was seen acting as a facilitator for a company to acquire a mining concession without passing through the right procedures.

Responding to the undercover piece, Mr. Bissue claims he is innocent of allegations leveled against him by the Tiger Eye PI team.

He insists he “was not and have never been engaged in any acts of corruption, criminality or misconduct.”

The IMCIM Secretary says his decision to step down is to make way for a transparent investigation.

“…in the interest of transparency and accountability, and so as not to compromise the work of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining, I have informed the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Prof. Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, Chairperson of the IMCIM, of my decision to step aside from my position as Secretary to the Committee, pending investigation into the allegations,” Mr. Bissue disclosed in a letter to the President.

He adds, “I call for such investigation, and I am prepared to avail myself, at all times, to the investigation process. I am confident that, at the end of it all, I will be exonerated, and my good name will be preserved.”
