The government of Ghana is in the process of granting tax waivers amounting to $335,072,712.13 to companies under the One District One Factory programme. The Finance Ministry has been handling the process since 2021.
In 2022, the Exemptions Act, 2022 (Act 1083) was laid before Parliament by the then-Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta. Currently under consideration, when the bill is passed, 42 companies under the 1D1F programme would benefit from tax exemptions that would set the country back by a third of a billion United States dollars.
Notable companies in the list include B5 Plus Limited, Sunda Ghana Limited, Everpack Limited and Sentuo Oil Refinery. While Sunda Ghana Investment Limited and Sunda Ghana Limited are requesting $22,897, 602.41 and $23, 690, 843. 79 respectively, Sentuo Oil Refinery would be the biggest beneficiary with $164, 633, 012. 00.
