The facilities are expected to serve more than 1,600’residents of the communities and beyond with potable drinking water and to reduce time spent by women in fetching water from the stream.

The founder of Zion Church and Executive Director of Frontiers Mission Network, Apostle Dr. Sansah Moses Konjo, said the church’s mission is to develop both the social and spiritual welfare of its members as well as their immediate communities.

Apostle Sansah, explained that the boreholes would ensure that residents are not stranded at the only existing stream which they share with their domestic livestock in the community.

Inaugurating the facilities, the General Overseer of the Zion Church, Apostle Sansah, said “the gospel is not only about the spiritual welfare, it also concerns itself with the physical dimension of its adherents, to meet their most felt social needs.”

Apostle Sansah intimated that partnering government to provide the needs of the people is another way of preaching the gospel and showing people how to be benevolent and merciful towards the needs of others.

The District Chief Executive for the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District, Mr Lawal Tamimu on his part commended the church for its active role in the development of the district adding that “Sawla- Tuna- Kalba is a district with a very vast land such that if care is not taken development becomes a challenge in certain parts. Gaakuon and Poorkoo are some of the communities I believe have been left behind in terms of development and I am very grateful to the church for responding to our call for assistance” at anytime we call on them.

The Assembly Member of the electoral area Mr. Sofiitey John, while lauding the church for the intervention, appealed for the benevolence to be extended to the provision of a furniture for the school in the Gaakuon community which has no single desk as school children lied prostrate on their stomachs to write notes.

The Gaakuon borehole was however, drilled by the first time hardworking lawmaker of the constituency Hon. Andrew Dari Chiwitey and Frontier Mission complimented with some of the equipment in its completion .
Poorkoo community own on the other side was sole sourced by the Frontier Mission Network a subset of the Zion Church .

In attendance at the inauguration ceremony were the District Chief Executive, the District Coordinating Director, Leaders of the church, elders of the community and women from both communities.

The women and children who could not hide their joy sang songs of praises to glorify God for touching the heart of the Apostle who in turn impacted their lives positively.
