Former Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, has launched a scathing critique of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), calling for the resignation of its entire leadership.
In an interview with Nhyira FM in Kumasi, the respected heart surgeon and politician blamed the current leadership for what he described as the party’s “unprecedented defeat,” claiming internal mismanagement and poor decisions were to blame for the NPP’s declining fortunes.
“All the executives must resign for leading the party to an unprecedented defeat. If the demons in the NPP are not removed from their leadership positions, the party will continue to suffer,” he stated.
Frimpong-Boateng did not spare President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, lamenting that his advice during his time in office was repeatedly ignored. “Akufo-Addo turned deaf ears to the many pieces of advice I gave him, which could have turned the fortunes. His governance was so disappointing.”
He further expressed concern that competent and patriotic individuals within the party had been sidelined in favor of political loyalists.
According to Frimpong-Boateng, Ghana’s economic recovery and long-term development hinge on investing in human capital and expanding the country’s export base. “Good governance is common sense minus corruption. You don’t sit down and accumulate money as a country, you need exports, which can be achieved by building a formidable human resource.”
His comments are already stirring intense debate within political circles and may spark further scrutiny of the NPP’s internal affairs.
