Political Science lecturer at the University of Ghana, Professor Ransford Gyampo, has expressed his dissatisfaction about President Nana Akufo-Addo’s decision to institutionalize August 4 as ‘Founders’ Day’.
He questioned government’s decision to name the day as “Founders’ Day”, adding that none of the so-called founders really saw themselves as one.
The lecturer’s comment came in the wake of President Akufo-Addo’s statement that Ghana was not founded by one person.
In a post on his Facebook page, Professor Gyampo argued that some of the supposed Founders were actually against the country’s independence.
He said “Those who frustrated the fight for independence never described themselves as founders of Ghana and in their graves they aren’t doing same.”
Prof Gyampoh added “Latter Day Saints can’t cry more than the bereaved, else it’s a clear case of “aaye fe n)ts3”.
