A former Deputy Attorney General and Minister of Justice Lawyer Joseph Dindiok Kpemka has stated that the things that happened at MASLOC under its ex-CEO Sedina Tamakloe was ‘naked stealing’. The former Tempane MP said there was total disregard for law and order under the convicted ex-CEO’s leadership.

Speaking on NewsFile, Lawyer Kpemka said the facts looked made up because it was daylight stealing. He told the host that he cried when he first reviewed the documents.

“This particular matter, the first time I reviewed the documents personally, when the copies were made for us to have a look at it by the Attorney General and to have a conference discussion, I actually cried. I couldn’t believe it. The facts were like they were concocted. To be very honest with you…because this was not just stealing…but naked thievery.”

He revealed that Sedina Tamakloe gave a loan to a rural bank without first agreeing on the terms. It was after she sent the money to the bank that the bank asked for the interest rate.

“In one of the charges, the boss of MASLOC decided to give a loan to a rural bank and they did not even reach any agreement, yet the money was transferred to the rural bank. When the money got to the account of the rural bank, the people then asked what is the interest rate from the money you have sent to us.”

However, after Sedina Tamakloe quoted the rate, the bank said it was beyond them and decided that they will return the money to MASLOC.

“Imagine, something you should have done earlier was not done. Then the interest rate was quoted by Sedina. When the interest rate was quoted, the rural bank management said the interest rate you’ve quoted, if we take this money, we cannot make any money out of it so we want to return it to you.”

According Lawyer Kpemka, the bank returned the money but it was delivered to the CEO at Baatsona Total Filling station in a GhanaMustGo back. She then drove away with all the money in her car boot.

“You know what she said, she directed them to cash the money and bring it to Accra and then they cashed the money in a GhanaMustGo, carried it to Accra, they met at Baatsona Total filling station and the money was packed into her boot and she drove away.”

Madam Sedina Tamakloe was sentenced by the Accra High Court  to 10 years imprisonment for causing financial loss to the state among other related charges. She absconded during trial but the trial continued in absentia, leading to her sentencing.
