Fire engulfs ECG’s Achimota bulk supply station ‘H’

A catastrophic fire has ravaged a section of the Electricity Company of Ghana’s (ECG) Achimota Bulk Supply Point Station ‘H’, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.

According to Citi News sources, the inferno broke out around 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 3, following a loud explosion that was heard by individuals within the compound.

The blaze, which has been brought under control by the Ghana National Fire Service, has resulted in significant damage to the Earthen Transformer “2” and several other critical components.

The incident is expected to have a far-reaching impact on electricity supply to areas served by the affected bulk supply point, including Adenta, Madina, Legon, 37, Kanda, and parts of Achimota.

Undeniably, as the situation unfolds, concerns are mounting about the potential disruptions to daily life and economic activities in the affected areas.

The ECG has yet to issue an official statement on the incident, but residents and businesses are bracing for an uncertain wait, hoping for a swift resolution to the crisis.
