Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has confirmed rejecting a lucrative offer from Saudi club Al-Hilal to stay with the Red Devils.

Speaking ahead of Portugal’s UEFA Nations League semi-final clash with Germany, Fernandes revealed that Al-Hilal’s president approached him a month ago with an ambitious proposal.

“It was a big offer. They gave me time to think. But I decided to stay,” Fernandes said.

Reports indicate the offer included a £100 million transfer fee and a weekly salary of £700,000. Despite the financial appeal, the midfielder prioritized his competitive aspirations.

“I spoke with my family and the club. Manchester United made it clear they didn’t want to sell me, unless I chose to leave,” he explained.

Fernandes also consulted Portugal head coach Ruben Amorim, who urged him to remain in Europe. After reflection, Fernandes chose loyalty to United and a continued presence in elite competitions.

“It would’ve been easy to go, but I still want to play at the highest level,” he added.

The 29-year-old had a standout season, leading United in both goals and assists, 19 apiece. Despite the team’s disappointing 15th-place Premier League finish and Europa League final loss to Tottenham, Fernandes affirmed his commitment to the club.

He now heads into his seventh season with United, just two goals shy of reaching 100 in English football.
