FAULTY DECLARATION OF 2020 ELECTION RESULTS BY EC CHAIR, GHANA
SCENARIO 1
Total vote cast = 13,434,574
Akufo-Addo = 6,730,413
John Mahama = 6,602,395
Techiman South = 128,018
NPP= (6,730,413/13,434,574)*100 =50.0977%
NDC1=(6,214,889/13,434,574)*100=46.2604%
Tech=(128,018/13,434,574)*100 =0.9529%
NDC2=(6,342,907/13,434,574)*100=47.2133%
The votes from Techiman South could move this to the second round, so where from the 51.96%?
NDC leadership should take this up quickly.
Practically, if you want to add Techiman South of 128,018 to NDC then NDC figure will now be 6,342,907.
Then the percentage is 6,342,907/13,434,574×100=47.2133%
Hence the percentage increase in the NDC figure will now be 0.9529%.
====================
SCENARIO 2 [If Techiman is added]
Total vote cast = 13,562,592
Akufo-Addo = 6,730,413
John Mahama = 6,602,395
Techiman South = 128,018
NPP= (6,730,413/13,562,592)*100 =49.6248%
NDC1=(6,214,889/13,562,592)*100=46.2604%
Tech=(128,018/13,562,592)*100 =0.9439%
NDC2=(6,342,907/13,562,592)*100=46.7676%
1. The percentage of 51.595% declared by the EC Chair is an error. The actual percentage is 50.098% and that of JDM is 46.26%.
2. If 128,018 is added then the total votes will be 13,562,592
3. So the percentage of the President is (6,730,413/13,562,592)x100=49.6248%
4. And if all the 128,018 is given to JDM, he will get a total of 6,342,907. And JDM’s percentage will be 46.7676%
[Although John Dramani Mahama won the election outright, let’s assume per the figures declared by the EC Chair, Jean Mensah]
The above calculation is pointing to a run-off if NDC can push for the errors in the collated values. If as little as 50,000 votes are deducted from the Akufo-Addo’s total votes he will get 49.26%. This is a run-off.
Anyone close to the JDM camp should inform them to let the EC correct the 51.595% error immediately.
Thanks
