Following vetting on Saturday, all nine aspirants have been cleared to contest in the internal elections. Kwesi Nyantakyi, the former GFA President’s switch to politics has been given a push after he scaled through during the vetting.

Evans Nimako, the Director of Elections of the NPP announced the news while adding that the party will meet all the contestants on Tuesday. He said the committee recommended that all the aspirants be allowed to contest.

The Committee has recommended that all of them be allowed to participate in this contest. Also, we’ve conducted the ballot. We’ve informed them that the National Executives of the party will meet them on Tuesday.

“They have been advised by the Committee to conduct a campaign exercise that will bring unity,” Mr. Nimako added.

Kwesi Nyantakyi will be on the seventh position on the ballot paper for the primaries. Below is the order in which they will appear on the ballot paper.

  1. Kwabena Boateng
  2. Dr. Evans Duah
  3. Klinsman Karikari Mensah
  4. Helena Mensah
  5. Jacqueline Abena Pokua Amoah-Boaitey
  6. Portia Baffoe Abronye
  7. Kwesi Nyantakyi
  8. Aaron Prince Duah

The winner of the election may likely win the main election as history has been on their side. Apart from the first elections in the fourth republic, the NPP has won all other elections in the Ejisu constituency. NDC’s Mohammed Boakye Agyemang won the 1992 election. Akwasi Osei-Adjei of the NPP won in the 1996, 2000 and 2004 elections. Kwabena Owusu Aduomi won in 2008, 2012 and 2016. John Kumah won the 2020 elections with 68,326 representing 82.83% while the NDC’s George Kwame Huze had 14,164 representing 17.17%
