According to General Sergeant Stephen Offei Asante, prosecuting, the complainant, David Anni, alias Nana Atopah, is an Okada rider based in Amonie in the Aowin municipality.

The two were in a relationship for two years but parted ways after the demise of their two-month-old child.

Ruth Arthur had previously moved out of the complainant’s residence but allegedly broke into his room on March 3, 2025, and set his belongings ablaze.

Upon returning home, the complainant discovered that his room had been forcibly broken into, and his belongings had been destroyed.

During the inspection of the crime scene, a double-bed mattress and some personal effects of the complainant were discovered to be partially burnt.

When interrogated, Arthur admitted to the crime in her caution statement and was subsequently charged and arraigned for trial.

However, when given the opportunity to explain herself in court, Arthur’s account led the court to reverse its initial decision and grant her bail instead.
