Poor Sanitation and filth will continue to remain a societal canker as long as the government and other civil society organizations as a matter of fact have deliberately ignored the efforts and work of health Inspectors/Environmental Health Officers in Ghana, the issue of Poor Sanitation will be difficult to tackle!

Environmental Health Officers (Tankas) obtained professional training from various Schools of Hygiene in the country, the First Health Training Institution was established in Ghana in the year 1925, to enforce the national Laws/Acts/Local Bye-laws on public health to ensure full and maximum compliance by all persons living in Ghana!!

Unfortunately, we have been ignored by the government and his cohorts, currently, about 1000 graduates have been refused to post and to perish in the house after completion of School even though these graduates are duly registered by the Allied Health Professions Council of Ghana (AHPC) to practice as Environmental Health Officers/Health Inspectors!!

As we speak now, these young and energetic graduates are yet to be posted, about four(4) batches of them, from 2014-2018. Sadly enough, Government over the years is recruiting graduates from schools without any form of Hygiene background and also unlicensed to practice as Environmental Health Officers/Health Inspectors in the Various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies,

As long as the government and civil society organizations refuse to recognize, fully resource and employ the services of Environmental Health Services like the olden days Tankas, Sanitation challenges will continue unabated!
