According to them, this will be the truest way of establishing and reconciling the figures as press releases cannot cure these inaccuracies.

In a statement issued on Wednesday December 16, the group renowned, “the Movement has noted with great concerns and worry the errors contained in the December 9, 2020 declaration and the attempts by the Electoral Commission to correct its own identified errors in the declaration and subsequent changing of figures on its website and Social Media platforms. We must state also that the corrections the Commission sought to make have also been ridden with more errors”.

This follows the revision of the total valid votes declared by the EC on December 9, where EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa, announced wrong figures, which the subsequent communique also contains some numerical errors.

They indicated, amid the presentations at the public forum “it has been revealed that the results of the December 7th elections need serious auditing from the source documents from polling stations as contained on the Commission’s Pink Sheets. The outcome of the forum was that it is the only way that the authenticity of the figures that have assumed conflicting statuses, can be corrected”.

In furtherance, the Respect My Vote(RMV) group, demanded the EC to “allows for an audit into the records of votes recorded on its official documents from the Polling Stations with its respective Pink Sheets and publishes a road map to resolving the issues through the auditing”.
Ensuing a declaration of the Presidential elections based on results certified thereupon, it added.

“Failure by the Electoral Commission to institute the audit will amount to an action targeted at ignoring the concerns of aggrieved parties and shall be held to account for infractions in the figures and its consequences thereafter, the statement read.

RESPECT MY VOTE MOVEMENT

COMMUNIQUE FROM THE RESPECT MY VOTE FORUM OF TUESDAY 15TH DECEMBER, 2020

The Respect My Vote (RMV) Movement, pro-democratic organization with its core mandate to contribute to strengthening Ghana’s democracy and stability yesterday, held a public forum at the Teachers Hall in Accra to discuss issues surrounding the Electoral Commission’s declaration of the 2020 elections results by Mrs. Jean Mensa on Wednesday 9th December, 2020 following the Presidential and Parliamentary elections of Monday 7th December, 2020.

The Movement has noted with great concerns and worry the errors contained in the December 9, 2020 declaration and the attempts by the Electoral Commission to correct its own identified errors in the declaration and subsequent changing of figures on its website and Social Media platforms. We must state also that the corrections the Commission sought to make have also been ridden with more errors.

These developments, coming from a very importation institution like the Electoral Commission, has cast doubts in the minds of many Ghanaians who questioned the integrity and credibility of the figures being published and or declared by the Commission. This we must state that is raising tension in the country which threatens Ghana’s hard-earned peace, democracy and the stability credentials.

As part of the presentations from the speakers, it has been revealed that the results of the December 7th elections need serious auditing from the source documents from polling stations as contained on the Commission’s Pink Sheets. The outcome of the forum was that it is the only way that the authenticity of the figures that have assumed conflicting statuses, can be corrected.

In view of the above, the RMV Movement issues this communique outlining some important issues that are of interest to the Movement in the immediate, while efforts will be taken to address other matters related to the 7th December declaration, events on elections day, and subsequent declaration and the several attempts to correct the statistical discrepancies that have been recorded thereof.

1. That, the Electoral Commission, allows for an audit into the records of votes recorded on its official documents from the Polling Stations with its respective Pink Sheets, as we believe that is the truest way of establishing and reconciling the figures as press releases cannot cure these inaccuracies.
2. That, the Electoral Commission publishes a road map to resolving the issues through the auditing
3. That, subsequent to such an audit, a declaration be made on the Presidential elections based on results certified thereupon.

4. That, failure by the Electoral Commission to institute the audit will amount to an action targeted at ignoring the concerns of aggrieved parties and shall be held to account for infractions in the figures and its consequences thereafter.
5. That the Movement shall take and support any legitimate action to compel the Commission to perform the audit and declare the results thereafter
