Crystal Palace forward Eddie Nketiah has officially confirmed his willingness to represent Ghana at the international level after years of being in limbo with England’s national team.
Nketiah, who was born in Lewisham to Ghanaian parents, has been on the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) radar for several years.
Although he played for England at all youth levels and received a senior call-up in 2023 for matches against Scotland and Ukraine, he has struggled to cement a place in Gareth Southgate’s squad.
Speaking on The Beautiful Game podcast, Nketiah revealed his shift in perspective.
“When I was younger, representing England was an option after progressing through the youth system. But if Ghana invites me, then I’ll be there,” he said.
The 25-year-old has had a difficult season at Crystal Palace, scoring just one goal and providing one assist in 25 appearances.
Despite this dip in form, his decision to switch allegiance could offer a significant boost for the Black Stars, who are still searching for consistent attacking options ahead of crucial international matches.
