The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has reiterated its commitment to supporting women stand equal chances with men in electoral processes.
This was made known in a statement signed by Chairperson for the EC in commemoration of International Women’s Day 2019 on the theme, ‘Think Equal, Build Smart, Innovate for Change’.
“The EC recognizes and acknowledges the numerous contributions women have made to our democratization and development process and we applaud and celebrate them on this day,” Jean Mensa stated.
The EC Boss further commended the First and Second Ladies and all women, for their efforts in making Ghana a better nation.
“On this occasion, we applaud the First and Second ladies of Ghana, female MPs and Ministers of State, women in Clergy, public Service, female entrepreneurs and business leaders, market women, Women in activism and civil society, Queen mothers, homemakers, and all the women who have contributed to make Ghana great and strong. We recognize and salute all the men who have and continue to champion the cause of women across the country,” she stated.
