Member of Parliament for Ketu South, Hon. Dzifa Abla Gomashie, has renovated an Islamic basic school in the Ketu South Municipality. The Ansaru Islamic School is believed to be the oldest Islamic centre of education in the Volta Region and has suffered neglect over the years.
In a short ceremony last week, the refurbished school block was handed over to the Muslim community at Gakli, a suburb of Aflao by the MP herself. Representatives of the Municipal Director of Education were also present at the event.
Hon. Gomashie, in her speech, indicated that she would renovate the school’s JHS block as soon as funds become available. Her statement was met with jubilation as the community said the MP would deliver on her words.
The former Deputy Minister of Tourism also donated assorted food items and materials, such as blankets and mats, to the Muslim community as they were preparing for the Eid celebrations.
In appreciation of the MP efforts, the community presented a citation to her, thanking her for the “wonderful relationship” she has with them since becoming their representative in Parliament.
Meanwhile, Dzifa Gomashie is currently collaborating with Pencils of Promise, an NGO, to provide a two units classroom block for the Yame Community School which is located in Yame, a predominantly farming community om the Ketu South Municipality.
