Energy Expert, Eric Atsu Tsogbe has called on President John Mahama and his Energy Minister John Jinapor to “act now” over the ongoing power outages being experienced by Ghanaians.
According to him, “the In the face of growing public discontent and deepening dissatisfaction among grassroots supporters, it has become imperative to address a critical issue that threatens to derail the government’s own “reset agenda.”
In a Facebook post, Mr. Tsogbe said “The persistent retention of well-known NPP sympathizers in top strategic positions—particularly within the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG)—has not only created a credibility crisis for the government but is also gradually turning the masses against the very administration they fought so hard to bring into power.”
He argued that the situation confronting ECG resulting into the ongoing power outages may not only be a technical or administrative one but political.
Let us be clear: the challenges within ECG today are not just technical or administrative—they are deeply political. And at the center of this dysfunction lies a disturbing refusal by the government to initiate the much-needed reshuffles that would usher in fresh energy, loyalty, and competence aligned with the current political vision. – he said

It Is Time to Speak Up: The Energy Minister and the President Must Act Now
By Eric Atsu Tsogbe – Energy Expert
In the face of growing public discontent and deepening dissatisfaction among grassroots supporters, it has become imperative to address a critical issue that threatens to derail the government’s own “reset agenda.” The persistent retention of well-known NPP sympathizers in top strategic positions—particularly within the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG)—has not only created a credibility crisis for the government but is also gradually turning the masses against the very administration they fought so hard to bring into power.
Where Is the Reset?
The President’s much-publicized “reset agenda” cannot be achieved if individuals who do not share in the spirit or goals of that vision are allowed to remain in powerful, decision-making positions. These engineers and top managers, who are known NPP loyalists, continue to occupy sensitive roles within ECG, making critical decisions that affect millions—often in ways that undermine the current administration’s credibility and performance.
How can we talk of change when the very agents of the old order are still pulling the strings behind the scenes? When loyal and competent NDC engineers and technocrats are left hanging in the air—ignored, underutilized, and sidelined—while those who openly rejected this government’s vision are rewarded with continued authority?
Sabotage from Within
The signs are glaring. From prolonged power outages to operational inefficiencies, the system is being quietly but deliberately sabotaged by those who have no stake in the success of this government. It is time to hold the Energy Minister and, by extension, the President himself accountable for this avoidable mess.
The Minister of Energy has failed to take decisive steps to re-align leadership within ECG and other key agencies under his watch. His inability—or unwillingness—to act has only emboldened those working against the government from within. This silence and inaction are being interpreted as tacit approval of sabotage, and it is hurting the party’s credibility at all levels.
Loyalty Must Be Rewarded
We must voice out the unfair treatment being meted out to those of us who have labored with our hearts and souls to bring this government into power. We campaigned. We endured. We defended. And yet, we are the ones being sidelined and disrespected. This is not just unfair—it is deeply sickening.
If the President does not act now, the consequences will be dire. Grassroots frustration is mounting. Party foot soldiers, technocrats, and faithful allies are losing hope. The time has come for a serious shake-up, especially at ECG and within the broader energy sector. The government must replace entrenched NPP loyalists with competent, loyal, and forward-thinking individuals who are committed to the reset vision and the betterment of Ghana.
Conclusion
Enough is enough. The President must listen. The Energy Minister must act. And we, the people who stood in the gap and brought this government into office, must no longer remain silent. Real change requires real action—not just slogans and speeches. The time for reshuffling is now.
