Dr. Jonathan Asante Otchere, a renowned lecturer and astute political analyst at the University of Cape Coast, has stated that the controversy surrounding drug trafficking allegations is a deliberate ploy to undermine the goodwill and credibility of President John Dramami Mahama.
Dr. Otchere suggests that the Minority in Parliament is exploiting this issue to incrementally erode Mahama’s reputation and credibility, thereby diminishing his influence within the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
“This is a calculated maneuver to reduce Mahama’s goodwill and tarnish his image,” he remarked.
Dr. Otchere’s comments coincide with escalating tensions between the government and the opposition, fueling speculation that this controversy is part of a broader strategy to discredit Mahama and the NDC ahead of the 2028 elections.
Dr. Otchere emphasizes the imperative of evidence-based allegations and responsible political discourse, cautioning that unsubstantiated claims can irreparably damage reputations and compromise the country’s international image.
“Making serious allegations without evidence can have far-reaching consequences, damaging reputations and undermining the nation’s global standing,” he warned.
