Dreams FC will face Zamalek today, Sunday in the CAF Confederation Cup semi-final first leg in Egypt at the Cairo international Stadium at 16:00 hours GMT. Head Coach Abdul Karim Zito is full of high hopes though his side is experiencing football at the highest stage in Africa for the first time.

Despite having no prior experience in this level of competition, Dreams FC took football fans by surprise after they topped group C with 12 points ahead of Rivers United, Academia Lobito and Club Africain.

“It’s difficult but not impossible. Sometimes your attitude in the game will also help you,” Karim Zito told Joy Sports.

Dreams progressed to the semi-finals after securing a 3-2 aggregate win over Stade Malien. They defeated their West African counterparts in Bamako before playing out a 1-1 draw in Kumasi.

Regardless of the success so far, Karim Zito is fully aware his side are the underdogs against the former Confederation Cup champions.

“We’re playing this game with a good mentality. We know we’re underdogs but (we will prove that) when we face you, we can equally match you.” Coach Zito added.

Zamalek qualified with a 3-2 aggregate win over their Egyptian counterpart Modern Future. The White Knights were champions in 2019 and have lost only one of their last five matches, recording three wins and a draw.
