The President for Elmina Sharks Paa Kwesi Nduom says the Ghana Football Association should help promote the Ghana Premier League in order to attract sponsors.
In an interview on Accra based radio station Asempa FM, he said, “The GFA does not promote the league and I feel saddened about it. When [ads1]they get funds from FIFA and other sources, they are supposed to channel it to the promotion of the local league.
“It is not always about going for FIFA press conferences, national teams and many others. Even when Elmina Sharks have a match to play, we go around Cape Coast, Sekondi promoting the match on radio and television. Because of it when we playing we have a full stadium and it’s exciting.
“When we play Ebusua Dwarfs, Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko many people come to the stadium and is because of the promotion which makes it is exciting”.
“The flagbearer for the People Progressive Party also stated that it is the duty of the Ghana Football Association is to promote the league, the teams, the players and when there is promotion that is where you will get the companies to come on board to sponsor because of the crowd.
“Corporate Ghana will sponsor because of the crowd and if they don’t see people patronising the league they won’t sponsor”, he added.
Nduom also mentioned that Elmina Sharks have attracted foreign players and coaches who are willing to work with the club and currently the club has one Brazilian.
“There are more players, coaches who want to work with Elmina Sharks and have written applications to me. We have one player in Germany who wants to join the Sea Lions which is our women’s team but we at a closure of the season and we have asked her to wait and come next season.
“We want the best players for Elmina Sharks and trust me we are going to compete with the best teams in the league next season”.
