Dr. Lawrence asks: Ghana now has 16 Regions, what’s next?

So with all these corruption, irregularities, multiple voting, intimidation, rigging and thievery that went on during the voting for the 6 regions, Nana Akufo Addo has come out to clear Mrs Jean Mensah for an excellent job done? So this referendum where both the opposition and the government were all campaigning for a Yes Vote too, NPP couldn’t do it without stealing? The irregularities that were streaming on video were so disgusting, I called for the halt of the referendum because I realized the credibility of the results has already been contaminated.

True to my fears, just look at the results and tell me if Ghana is a serious country under these Jean Mensah and Nana Akufo Addo. These are the results for yes votes: Oti Region: 99%, Bono East Region: 99.5%, Ahafo Region: 99.68%, North East Region: 99.67%, Savannah Region: 99.7% and Western North Region: 99.5%. Even when Saddam Hussein was the President of Iraq, he couldn’t get such results, but it has happened in Ghana under Jean Mensah and everybody is quiet as if they are normal election results. When at all will Ghanaians realize that Nana Addo plus Jean Mensah are destroying our democracy and killing our country? They are both incapable of handling the job given to them.

Now the main reason given by Nana Addo and the NPP for the creation of these 6 regions was that those new regions will now see real development and growth. Really? So Nana Addo, who comes from the Eastern Region, does not need any development in his region? Why was Eastern Region not divided? So no Chief from either Greater Accra or Ashanti Region needed development for their regions? Are those chiefs who petitioned the President expecting the “growth and development” from this Nana Addo government or from the next NDC government? For two years now, what has Nana Addo’s  government started and completed successfully?

Fellow Ghanaians, we have been made to believe that creating more regions will bring development to the new regions but you and I know that, it is a myth. What proper development have we been able to bring to the 10 existing ones, that has convinced us that creating more problems will give us solutions? I am not against the creation of the 6 regions but the way Jean Mensah and her Electoral Commission created them, and under the Nana Addo, who sees the price of fuel moving from GHC 14.00 a gallon to GHC 24.00 a gallons as a decrease in fuel prices, I doubt if the Chiefs who did the petition will not regret doing so, when they realize that this deceitful government, once again lied to them. Unfortunately, some of them will not be alive to see the harm they did to their grand and great grand children.

By the way, what has become of the planned demonstration by the NDC against the removal of Mrs Charlotte Osei? By now, the NDC should know that Mrs Jean Mensah is not the EC boss to conduct any free and fair elections for Ghanaians. She has been put there to supervise the elections to elect members of a party of which she is a card bearer. Jean Mensah and the NPP should not assume that the acceptance of this 99% nonsense means Ghanaians are stupid and timid. I have warned that if this nasty act is repeated in 2020, Ghana will become the next bobolibobo. If it is the rehearsal of the NPP for 2020, they need to do a better rehearsal. This poorly done rehearsal, if repeated, will not do Ghana any good. Nana Addo should realize that he was handed-over a peaceful country and he should also be ready to hand over a peaceful country in 2021. Ghanaians will not accept any excuses.
