Barely a week before he was called to glory, Kwabena Adjei advised Former President John Mahama to foster unity with Founder of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Jeremiah John Rawlings.

The late Kwabena Adjei gave his soothing words when he hosted the NDC 2020 presidential candidate John Mahama, Julius Debrah, former NDC government Chief of Staff, Joshua Akamba, NDC National Organiser, and Joseph Ade Coker, Greater Accra Regional Chairman of NDC, on his sick bed.

Speaking on an Accra-based radio station, Joshua Akamba said the late Kwabena Adjei, the former National Chairman of the party, told John Mahama that the NDC needed to reunite with their founder, as the party prepared to capture political power from the NPP in 2020.

“Kwabena Adjei promised to join the campaign team when he got better, but, little did we know that those were his last words to us,” Akamba said.

He said one advice the late National Chairman gave him, which he had already taken steps to get that done, was the urgency in pulling down all party ‘WhatsApp’ platforms.

“Kwabena Adjei observed that one concrete medium our political opponent will tap our strategies and communication is via the national and various regional WhatsApp platforms because we might not know who could be stabbing us in the back “I agree that we all love the NDC but you and I might not know the
Judas in our camp,” he explained.

The clarion advice by the late Kwabena Adjei was timely and tactical and so Joshua Akamba said on Monday, he called a few regional executives of the NDC to see the reason in collapsing all such WhatsApp platforms that have the tendency of sharing their critical information with their opponents.

“My regret was that we could not pose for pictures with him on our last visit barely a week ago, because it was a private visit. The party is down-hearted to lose such a gem at this time,” Joshua Akamba said.

Dr Kwabena Adjei passed on on Tuesday at the Ridge Hospital, after battling with illness, and since then, legions of tributes have been pouring in in his honour as a statesman who would be remembered for his “there are several ways of killing a cat” idiomatic expression, prior to the 2008 general elections.
