Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, while presenting the 2021 Mid-Year review Budget Statement and Economic Policy on Thursday urged all, including Members of Parliament, to be part of the one million Ghanaians projected to support the initiative dubbed, “Ketewa biara nsua” with GH₵100 a month for the next three months.

He stated that Ghanaians could support the noble cause by dialing the shortcode *979#

But speaking to Awake News following the announcement by the government through the Finance Minister, Prof. John Gatsi said “It is rather the time Ghanaians should contribute to support small family business initiatives.”

According to the economist, “The priority of Ghanaians especially the youth is to be productive and any efforts by Ghanaians to organize micro and small seed capital for young people will be a rewarding social investment.”

“Don’t worry yourself about contributing GHS100 to support the construction of a Cathedral, it is not a deeper national need.” – Prof. Gatsi said

For Prof. Gatsi, “I will be fulfilled to contribute to the construction of a local church building even if l don’t worship there because when l travel across the country l see many worships under uncomfortable sheds.”
