Executive Secretary of Anchoring Democracy Advocacy Movement Ghana (ADAM-GH) Mr. Azubila Salam Emmanuel has advised Former President John Dramani Mahama to reunite Ghana and not to turn his Rescue mission to revenge mission when given the nod in December 7th 2020 General Elections.
According to him, there have been an outburst of members of the opposition National Democratic Congress NDC who vowed to revenge and deal with some security personnel who are seen like stooges to Nana Addo government. This he plead with the former President to put Ghana first in his next Government as he did in the past if given the nod.
According to him, it is undeniable fact that Nana Addo’s Government has failed Ghanaians in terms of deepening our Democracy which his predecessors including Former President John Mahama who are our past Presidents fought for.
The progress of our country democracy he said begun when Former President Rawlings agreed to end military rule and help nurse our country’s Democracy from 1992 to the year 2000 where he handed over power to former President John Agyekum Kufuor.
“Because of Rawlings background as a military man, his government still recorded some military intimidations which was largely condemned by all Ghanaians as undemocratic during his tenure of office. Former President J. A Kufuor who is known as an Ambassador of Ghana’s Democracy came and deepens Ghana’s Democracy by using Ghana police administration for most civil gatherings and other activities by empowering the police administration to enforce the laws of the country” he noted.
Mr. Azubila added that Late President Professor Atta Mills took over from Kufuor and further deepens the Democracy through his famous father for all syndrome where he thinks all Ghanaians should be treated equal (one Ghana one people).
He stated that Former President John Dramani Mahama also took over from Late Prof. Mills and continued with Mills father for all policy which his party was seriously against but it was impossible for President John Mahama to reverse what his predecessors laid down years back looking at where we came from as a country.
He revealed that Military intimidations and brutality became thing of the past in Ghana’s history until this regime.
“Unfortunately for Ghana, President Nana Addo took over and send us back beyond the dark days, raising ethnic tensions, infiltrate party hoodlums into national security, police and military causing chaos everywhere killing and brutalizing innocent citizens, political victimization just to maintain political power” he added.
“As a civil society group that anchors proper democratic principles, by name Anchoring Democracy Advocacy Movement Ghana (ADAM-GH), yes we agree with the former President John Mahama that our country’s democracy has speedily retrogressed to the dark days if not beyond”.
The group called on former President John Dramani Mahama to try his possible best to reunite Ghana if he is given the nod in December 2020 General Elections reiterating that the Former President should not turn his rescue mission to revenge mission but bring Ghana back to it progressive path for the sake of Ghanaians.
“ADAM-GH, we are also appealing to President Nana Addo to repent in dividing the united Ghana he inherited from his predecessors. His regime has divided Ghanaians in tribal lines, empowering party hooligans and security officials who are sympathetic to his party NPP to terrorizing and killing innocent Ghanaians”.
“We are a democratic country we don’t need this for God sake. ADAM-GH, our message to President Nana Addo is that if Ghanaians give him the second chance to continue his 4 more 4 Nana campaign, he should quickly learn from his mistakes and missteps and desist from his current trend of Governance of deepening ethnic tensions, party hooligans brutality and open corruption that is derailing the progress and development of our country Ghana. We will urge President Nana Addo to concentrate on developing and reuniting Ghana against the future”.
Signed
Azubila Salam Emmanuel.
