The Royal House and the Palace of Togbiga Akpo Ashiakpor VI of Weta Traditional Area in the Ketu North Constituency of the Volta Region has urged former President John Mahama to disregard one Nelson Believer Kofi Glago a self-imposed Chief of Weta who is parading himself as representing and or speaking for the chiefs and people of the Weta Traditional Area.
The Weta Traditional Council has therefore “wishes to categorically disassociate itself from the individual featured in a recent video making statements regarding H.E. John Dramani Mahama. The individual in question falsely claims to be the paramount chief of the Weta Traditional Area. His real name is Nelson Believer Kofi Glago, from Klikor in the Ketu South Constituency.”
In a statement signed by Zikpuitor (Stoolfather) Midawo Tsifote, “The said individual has been observed in other videos angrily demanding a personal audience with the former president, H.E. John Dramani Mahama. In one instance, he was seen complaining that the drinks offered to him by the former president were insufficient, and as a result, he refused to accept them. He even suggested that, had the former president appeared before him in person, he might have received more generous offerings.”
The Zikpuitor went on to alleged that “it has come to our attention that this individual [Nelson Believer Kofi Glago] is a known politician, particularly sympathetic to the NPP. He was forcibly superimposed on the legitimate royal family by party figures and its affiliates such as the MCE, Hon. Anthony Avorgbedor; the Minister of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Hon. Stephen Asamoah Boateng; and the retired but refused to leave Registrar of the Volta Region House of Chiefs, Mr. Harry Atikppoe.”
“The actions of these individuals in the video appear to be a deliberate attempt to tarnish the good work and reputation of H.E. John Dramani Mahama and the NDC party during their campaign in the Ketu North Constituency” – he added.
If reader will recalled, during former President Mahama’s four day tour of the Volta Region, there were some claims that the NDC presidential candidate could not meet some chiefs who were waiting for him making the chief express disappoint. This forced Mr. Mahama to respond to the issues and apologized whiles explaining that the said visit was not part of his original scheduled but assured to make it a point to pay them visit in his next round.

2. That this so-called Paramount Chief has also been featured in other videos angrily demanding a personal audience with H.E. John Dramani Mahama complaining that the drinks offered to the Chiefs were insufficient and, as a result, he refused to accept them. He even bluffed that had Mahama himself appeared before him, he would have received more generous offerings.
3. In another instance, the said chief and those around him were heard making politically calculated statements that appear to be a deliberate effort to tarnish the reputation and campaign efforts of the NDC in the Ketu North Constituency.
4. We wish to make it unequivocally clear that the person appearing in the video has no legitimate ties to the family of Akpo Ashiakpor. He is an imposter whose real name is Nelson Believer Kofi Glago from Klikor in the Ketu South Constituency. The Royal House, including the legitimate kingmakers of the Akpo Ashiakpor stool, does not recognize, or have any relationship with him.
5.. The two chiefs who revealed their identities in the video are known politicians, particularly beneficiaries of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) who have planned something more than that as a “thank you” package to their party. .
6. Whilst Torgbui Adukpo IV was handpicked from the classroom as a teacher to become a staff of Ghana Cocoa Board because of his loyalty to the party. The said Paramount chief was imposed on our family by the NPP figureheads in the persons of the MCE of Ketu North District Hon. Anthony Avorgbedor, Refused to Leave Retired Registrar of Volta Region House of Chief – Mr. Harry Atikppoe, former and the present Ministers of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Hon. Kofi Dzamesi and Hon. Stephen Asamoah Boateng respectively who supported him and facilitated his gazzette though there is lawsuit against him.
7. Therefore, the actions of these chiefs as displayed in the video are nothing but a deliberate attempt to tarnish the good work and reputation of H.E. John Dramani Mahama during his campaign tour in the Ketu North Constituency
8. On behalf of the veritable Torgbuiga Akpo Ashiakpor VI and the kingmakers of the Ashiakpor Stool, I humbly apologise to H. E. John Mahama and the NDC leadership for the embarrassment
such distraction might have caused.
10. I also wish to use this opportunity to urge the general public, most especially the media outlets to take a critical look at the person in the video and treat him as an imposter and homeless self-styled chief of Weta. We have one legitimate paramount chief in Weta, properly installed by the family according to the customs and traditions of the People of Weta.
