Youth Alliance For Accountable Government, YAFAG, has called on the president of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo to dismiss all government appointees who are holding party positions.

According to the group, the president in in few years past, then the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, coupled with the minority of the 5th Parliament and the Alliance For Accountable Government, AFAG, raised series of objections towards the appointment of Kofi Porturphy and Anita De Sousso who are the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress and were appointed the Director General and Deputy Director General of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) respectively claiming it was a politicization of state institutions, subsequently making them to resign.

In a press release signed by one Lawrence Kwakye, Convenor of YAFAG noted that it has come their realization that the current NPP led government have appointed into state institutions persons who are currently holding reputable positions in the NPP.

It mentioned persons such as Alfred Ofori Annye, the Brong Ahafo Secretary who has been appointed as the Deputy Managing Director of PBC, Hajia Saatu Saed, National Women’s Organizer who has been appointed as the Deputy Director of NADMO, Bashiru Ibrahim, who serves as the Regional Youth Organizer for the Upper East Region and has been appointed as the Deputy CEO of NYEP and Abdul Rauf, first Vice Chairman in the Ashanti Region and appointed as the CEO of the Pharmacy Council.

YAFAG commended Stephen Amoah, Justin Kodua and Afua Akoto for resigning from their party positions immediately upon receiving government appointments.

YAFAG revealed that “we recollect that the National Executive Committee of the NPP of which the president is a leading member recently stated emphatically clear that, all party officials holding governmental positions must choose between the political party’s position or the governmental appointment. But it seems the president just made those comments for listening and speaking sake or the appointees want to prove to be recalcitrant and intransigent.”

Mr. Kwaket said he is expecting the president and the majority in Parliament to work on the issue before Ghanaian youth become disappointed in them.

He revealed that it is preparing its petition, which they will soon serve the president and all other necessary authorities.

“We call on all civil societies and other well-meaning Ghanaians to join the call in getting the president to ensure his appointees who hold party portfolios to resign.” It concluded.
