The Education Minister, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh has descended heavily on his predecessor Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang describing her as an “embarrassment” and one who didn’t understand education.

“Her four-year tenure under John Mahama was an embarrassment,” Dr. [ads1]Opoku Prempeh told Kwadwo Asare-Baffuor Acheampong popularly known as KABA on Asempa FM on Tuesday, 14 November.
According to the Manhyia South Member of Parliament, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang left the education ministry saddled with debts adding that “She doesn’t understand education.”
Dr. Opoku Prempeh gave a breakdown of debts under the education ministry as follows;

Feeding Grants for Colleges of Education – GHS36 million, Feeding Grants for Special Schools – GHS4.7 million, SHS Subsidy – GHS24 million, Progressively Free Senior High School debt – GHS33 million, Capitation Grant, GHS8 million and GETFund debt – GHS3.7 billion.

Dr. Opoku Prempeh also attacked the former deputy Education Minister Okudzeto Ablakwa stating that he has made lying his stock-in-trade.

Meanwhile, Hon. Ablakwa in a post on Facebook stated “Thank you Napo. We won’t hit back. We respect the office you occupy. Thankfully, I know my boss Prof. Opoku-Agyemang is an amazingly strong woman with a special heart. Time will tell.”
