The Director of State Protocol at the Presidency, Ambassador Hassan Ahmed was snubbed at the National Governors Association 2018 Winter Meeting in Washington DC, United States of America, on Sunday, February 25, 2018.
[ads1]This was after the host of the event had invited President Akufo-Addo to the dais to deliver the keynote address.
Ambassador Ahmed walked ahead of President Akufo-Addo and stretched his hand forward for a handshake with the host. The host, however, turned a blind eye to the gesture, making every effort to focus on his ‘protocol’.
The host further directed Ambassador Ahmed to take a seat among the audience.
The incident has generated public discussion with some describing it as “embarrassing.”
A video of the incident has been shared by many on social media.
Some photo journalists have complained about how the Director of State Protocol conducts his business by getting in the way of the President.
According to some, he blocks their view at “vital moments” at public functions denying them the opportunity to capture the President at such moments.
