For the short time I’ve been privileged to serve in government, I’ve come to appreciate the enormity of stress associated with the job.
Besides requests for assistance from family, friends and fellow party members, the job itself is so demanding and one’s daily schedule is such that, a 24-hour seems like eternity.
Again, and as humans congregating in group to pursue a commom-agenda, the normal grudges associated with humanity will always arise. This also can be a source of tense working-enviroment which has the tendency to create animosity, and ultimately, stress. But whatever it is, the job must be done.
It is for this reason that I’ve always advised that; as government appointees, we must please prioritize our time, schedule our times and adhere to our timing. What I mean by this is that, the work must be done, alright, but totally ignoring calls mustn’t be the norm. A careful balancing-act is key.
Then the issue of working relationship amongst government appointees, when not handled with tact, will often become another critical avenue for confusion and unfriendly working-environment. What we must know is that, as humans, we don’t always have to be great pals to be able to get the job done.
So when a brother/sister, inadvertently, steps on your toe, never take it to heart. We must cultivate the habit of not holding grudges and also allowing simple issues to get under our skin. We must learn to be one-another’s keeper. The truth must always be told and we must be humble to accept our mistakes.
The real essence of political power, as I’ve always maintained, is about the general well-being of the ordinary Ghanaian, and that’s exactly what it should be. Fighting one-another in our quest to serve our country, for me, will defeat the purpose of our call to duty and rather portray us as self-seeking bunch.
MAY THE LORD ALMIGHTY CONTINUE TO SHOWER HIS DIVINE BLESSINGS ON OUR DEAR COUNTRY, AND IMBIBE US WITH LIMITLESSNESS OF WISDOM TO SERVE OUR PEOPLE WITH GENUINE HUMILITY, MATCHLESS SELFLESSNESS, PURE INTEGRITY AND UNWAVERING LOVE.
