COVID-19 FIGHT: KENYASI No.1TRADITIONAL COUNCIL DISTRIBUTES PPEs TO RESIDENTS

Kenyasi No.1 Traditional Council in the Ahafo Region has presented a number of Personal Protective types of equipment worth close to Gh.10,000.00 to its community members to help them prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the area.

The PPEs presented to assembly and unit committee members at the Mensah Kumta Palace on behalf of the people include 1,500 pieces of face masks, 1,080 pieces(15 boxes) of carbolic soaps, and 500 pieces of 200ml hand sanitizers.

Presenting the items on behalf of the traditional council, the Paramount Chief, Nana Osei Kofi Abiri, stated, as a leader one of his core duties is to ensure that the people he serves have the of health status especially in a time like this where COVID-19 is now a pandemic and no respecter of human.

According to him, the disease must not be taken for granted per its nature so the council thought it necessary to assist the community folks with PPEs to give them the needed protection because everyone has a role to play for development to thrive in the area.

” My ideas and activities to develop Kenyasi No.1 won’t be successful if the people are not mentally and physically sound ” Nana Osei Kofi Abiri stated.

He said it will be unacceptable and unthinkable as a Paramount Chief to sit aloof for the virus to infect his people due to a lack of PPEs. He disclosed that in no time the council will present another set of PPEs for every soul in the Kenyasi No.1 township for all to be secured.

Speaking on what the council will do to those who refuse to wear their face masks, Nana Osei Kofi Abiri explained, such people would be summoned to the palace to answer some questions from the chiefs and queen mothers and this will take effect immediately after the council has finished distributing enough masks to them.

He, therefore, advised Ghanaians especially those in Ahafo Region to adhere to all the preventive protocols because the disease is real and still health experts are doing all they can to get the drug for its care meaning there is no cure for now.

On behalf of the assembly and unit committee members, the Assemblyman for Obour 3kyi Electoral Area, Honourable Thomas Opoku Sekyere thanked the traditional council headed by Nana Osei Kofi Abiri for providing what matters most currently as the country fights the invisible virus.

He appealed to the people to use the items as soon as they receive them for their own safety because the virus is eager searching for people to infect.

Hon. Bawa Issaka who is also an Assemblyman on the hand appealed to individuals, Non – Governmental Organizations(NGOs) and companies in the Asutifi North District to keep supporting the people with PPEs to help have effective campaign against the virus. He said people ready to donate PPEs to residents must engaged both the assembly and unit committee members because they know the actual people in dying need of such items.

” We’re with them and know those who can’t afford the PPEs so involve us in your distributions ” he said.

Madam Olivia Adjeiwaa, a Unit Committee Member, revealed that measures will be in place to ensure that beneficiaries wear the face masks. She explained, in the course of distribution, education on the importance of putting on the face masks when someone is out would be given.

Aside it, she mentioned that they will be monitoring the people with keen interest as they step out for their daily activities to ensure that the face masks are fixed as expected.
