The Koforidua High Court has delivered a decisive verdict, dismissing the election petition that contested Frank Annoh-Dompreh’s triumph as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Nsawam-Adoagyiri constituency.

This ruling effectively upholds the legitimacy of Annoh-Dompreh’s election, affirming his victory in the December 2024 Parliamentary election.

The petition, filed by the NDC, alleged irregularities at certain polling stations, claiming these discrepancies impacted the chances of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Selorm Philibert Fummey Amenorphe.

Annoh-Dompreh, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, secured 29,640 votes, narrowly edging out Fummey’s 29,433 votes.

In a ruling delivered on April 10, 2025, Presiding Judge Krofa Addae favored the application to dismiss the case, following a robust legal challenge by Gary Nimako Marfo, Director of Legal Affairs of the NPP.

The court found no merit in the petitioner’s case, resulting in a GHC 25,000 cost against them. Annoh-Dompreh welcomed the court’s decision, stating, “I see it as a vindication of both my electoral victory and the confidence reposed in me by the electorate of Nsawam-Adoagyiri.”

However, the petitioners have announced their intention to appeal the ruling.

Despite the court’s decision, controversy surrounding Annoh-Dompreh’s victory persists. Dr. Rashid Tanko, Acting CEO of GIFEC, has vowed to legally challenge Annoh-Dompreh’s election, citing alleged electoral irregularities and discrepancies in the declaration process.

Tanko asserts that “fake pink sheets” and “scam copies” were used to declare Annoh-Dompreh the winner, and he’s determined to use all legal means to challenge the outcome.
