There seems to no end in sight for a clean government as the 10 months old Akuffo-Addo led government is embroiled in yet another stinking corrupt deal right from the office of the President.
This website has intercepted an MoU between the Microfinance and Small Loans Center (MASLOC) which is under the office of the President and DEXTRO IMPEX Co. Ltd that is giving Dextro Impex the go ahead to import into Ghana on behalf of MASLOC 1,800 units [ads1]of 2011 brand of Fiat Panda at a cost of Ghc 16,000 each.
The agreement further gives DEXTRO the authorization to import spare parts for the vehicles at a separate cost as well as offer after sales services for the cars.
There are a lot of untidy hands around this deal that brings into doubts the ability of President Akuffo-Addo to fight corruption as this deal seems to have his full endorsement.
It not clear what led to MASLOC awarding such huge contract to a company of questionable status, our investigation at the registrar general indicates that DEXTRO IMPPEX was incorporated in the year 2008 just when Akuffo-Addo was losing to the late President Mills, the company then went off and didn’t do any business and they failed to renew their certificate until December 2016 when Akuffo-Addo won the 2016 elections.
The listed directors of the company are Mr. Silas Boahene, Clifford Tagoe who happens to be the brother of Presidential Staffer and aid to Akuffo-Addo, Charles Nii Tei Tagoe, Jeffery Ocran and Elis Aloryi.
What makes this whole saga murkier was our discovery from the Ghana Revenue Authority that DEXTRO IMPEX is not on the books of the Ghana Revenue Authority; they are none existent in the records of GRA yet managed to scoop such a huge contract.
Several questions have been left on the minds of Ghanaians regarding this whole deal that stinks right through the nose to the throat and some are;
1. Vehicles are second hand
2. There is an authorised Fiat Dealer in the country. If you want to buy Fiat second hand cars, who better to deal with than the authorised dealer as he can guarantee and or certify the road worthiness of the car.
3. Why use a third party company Dextro Impex. By the way who is Dextro Impex, what is their business track record.
4. MASLOC currently has no board. Who approved the transaction?
5. The Board of PPA is yet to be constituted. Did he get PPA approval for this transaction?
6. Where was the Head of Legal of MASLOC? How come the Head of Finance witnessed this legally binding contract?
7. Can he in his capacity as CEO of MASLOC commit government to such a financial burden, by providing a letter of comfort without recourse to the Chief of Staff and the Finance Minister?
Our attempts to get answers to these questions both from the Flagstaff House and MASLOC yielded no results as everyone is tight lipped for fear of being victimized.
We will however keep you updated on this stinking deal that is unfolding.
