This comes after the project was halted due to alleged corruption related expenditures. The chairman of the board, Apostle Professor Opoku Onyinah revealed that the audit report is ready, hence construction will resume.

It was estimated that $450 million is required to fully complete the project.

Apostle Opoku said “The need for an audit was a key demand by the church leadership and Ghanaians in general to establish the credibility of the implementation of the project. With the completion of this first report, preparations are underway for construction to resume.

The board chair also thanked Ghanaians for their previous donations and hoped the audit report will engender more support for the project.

He emphasized “We appreciate your support so far, and trust that the completion of the ongoing audit will renew your prayer and financial support for the NCG project.”

The audit which has been conducted by Deloitte Ghana will reveal how $58 million of the taxpayers’ money was expended on the project with only the foundation pit to show for work done.
