The Executive Secretary of Anchoring Democracy Advocacy Movement GHANA (ADAM-GH), Mr. Azubila Salam Emmanuel has called on President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo to put politics aside and complete the former President John Dramani Mahama 123 E-blocks schools to accommodate students and abolish the double-track system.
According to him governance hinges on continuity and what ever is the country first priority must be looked at regardless which administration started it.
‘It is Ghana money not that of former President John Dramani Mahama nor that of President Nana Addo Dankwah AKUFO Addo’ he noted.
Ghana, he said cannot spend this huge sums of money to put up highly state of the art, 123 E-blocks which is at various stages of completion be left in the bush, and under the mercy of the harsh atmospheric conditions, whiles innocent children are attracting different kinds of sicknesses in the secondary schools due to unimaginable congestions and overcrowding.
Mr. Azubila stated that most of these students are gallivanting at home waiting for double track, green and yellow system, and this I must opine is putting serious socio-economic burden on parents in Ghana.
He added that the practice of Democracy as we aware is for the people, and the Akufo Addo, Dr. Bawumia – led government should do the needful by alleviating hardships, providing pro poor policies to the nooks and cranny of the country, rather than unleashing ‘punishments’ on Ghanaians in the name of partisan politics.
‘I would like to place on record that, The voice of ADAM-GH is the voice of the people, and we will do anything humanly possible and within the framework of the laws governing the state to safeguard the interest of mother Ghana at all cost’ he noted.
Mr. Azubila Salam Emmanuel revealed that prior to 2012 national elections in the country, the major political parties thus, both NDC and NPP agreed in principle the challenges confronting Ghanaians relative to perennial challenges confronting second cycle education in the country.
He added that former President John Drammani Mahama and current President Nana Addo Dankwah AKUFO Addo, both crafted their major campaign messages about the debilitating state of our education, and the need to improve it to the best of their ability in the event any of them secured the needed mandate to become President of the Republic respectively.
Candidate Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo he said at the time, drummed home on the need for all children in Ghana, irrespective of their geographical location, ethnicity, religion would become a beneficiary of the Free SHS Program, as publicly captured by the New Patriotic Party’s 2012 and 2016 manifestoes.
“President ( Then-candidate ) Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo reemphasized in 2016 campaign to build 350 SHS in addition to the free SHS during his first tenure as president” he noted.
He said former President John Dramani Mahama ( then candidate) also campaigned on the need to attain quality in tandem with his consistent message of progressively free by promising to build 200 new community day secondary schools to augment the existing once which will give access to every child who completed Junior high school ( JHS)
This background according to him from the current president and the former president testifies that the people of Ghana have a problem of accessing senior high education.
One agenda but a different approach.
“It is absolutely clear that the two party’s campaign messages were geared towards one direction, and that is bettering our second cycle education through, accessibility, quality and free for all children”.
He stated that the two leaders rightly identified the country’s major problem that is depriving our children of getting access to secondary schools.
“ADAM-GH is proud to say that our two leaders vision about our second cycle institutions were excellent if put together” he noted.
“Our former president John Dramani Mahama won the 2012 elections and first of all tackled one ledge of the problem by starting his 200 SHS projects. He started 123 projects which were at various stages of completion, and was able to complete 45 of these new day senior high schools before he left office January 7, 2017”.
Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo also fully implemented the free SHS and few months after the implementation of free SHS, he was hit with the reality where schools became overcrowded indicating the fact that we lack access, as posited by Mr. John Mahama.
The situation pushed the current government to implement double track system in our secondary schools.
However, by Next month in September 2019, SHS will resume school and the overcrowding in most of the schools will become topics for discussion in the country because though we are not acting as naysayers, it is expected that, the situation will move from bad to worse, if supervisory officials, and stakeholders fail to act with alacrity, to avert the problems.
ADAM-GH is a civil society group aim at anchoring democratic principles, protect and defend democracy in Ghana and encourage proper rule of law.
The group also seek to hold the leaders accountable to it citizens as well as to shape Ghana’s democracy against pervasive and endemic corruption in government agencies and any act that is likely to jeopardize the peace and security in the country and encourage continuity of governance system in the country.
MODE OF OPERATIONS
The mode of operation of ADAM-GH includes:
1. TV and radio representations
2. Petitions to create awareness of the wrongful acts within the governance structure.
3. Meeting authorities to prompt them on raging matters of national interest.
4. Press conferences and other social activities, including symposia.
5. Legal means.
ACTIVITIES
Activities also includes:
a) Educating youth and institutions about the need to protect Ghana’s democracy and put Ghana first.
b) Visitation of schools, SHS and Tertiary schools organizing forums to shape our future leaders against acts of corruption and the need to protect the nation’s democratic values at all times.
c) To organize debate for institutions and those seeking to lead the country in various forms.
To support and give assistance to the vulnerable in various forms and capacities, including:
giving out formal and informal education to people who need skills training, making themself reliance and independent.

ADAM-GH It is our wish that Ghana becomes free from corruption and to ensure continuous peaceful democratic country for a better future of the youth, through our enviable hard-won reputation as the beacon of hope, in terms of decades in achieving sound democratic credentials in sub sahara Africa.
