The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has clarified that no decision has been made on the producer price of cocoa, urging the public and farmers to disregard any contrary reports.
This statement comes on the heels of recent price adjustments, with the producer price increasing to GH¢49,600 per tonne in November 2024 and a 58.26% hike to GH¢33,120 per tonne in April 2024.
COCOBOD’s statement emphasizes that the absence of a Board of Directors and the Producer Price Review Committee renders any decision on the producer price impossible.
“In view of the aforementioned reasons, there is no way such an announcement can be made,” the statement read.
This move aims to prevent misinformation and ensure stakeholders receive accurate information.
COCOBOD urges the public and media to rely on official channels for information on the producer price of cocoa, ensuring timely and accurate updates. This directive seeks to maintain transparency and prevent speculation.
