Togbe Agbobada IV, Dufia of Adaklu Anfoe and a Senior Divisional Chief of the Adaklu Traditional Area of the Volta region, has slammed government for what he called lack of recognition for the of people of Adaklu.

The Chief’s comments are in relation to the site allocated to the [ads1]government for the construction of a Youth and Sports Resource Center in the Adaklu District.

“We are saddened by the undue recognition given to the Asogli Traditional Area over this piece of land.  This land falls within the jurisdiction of the Adaklu Traditional Council, and the Adaklu District Assembly.

“Indeed, when the government wanted the land for the project, the then Mahama administration approached us. We collaborated with the owners of the land and eventually allowed the land for the government for the project, here we are today for the sod-cutting ceremony and not even a single chief from Adaklu was even introduced at the function.

“All we keep hearing here is the Asogli Traditional Council, the libation was poured by them, almost everything here was done by them. My people from Adaklu here today are aggrieved. That is not to say we are against the project though”.

Togbe added that the Adaklu Traditional Council would seat with government and the individual owners of the land to draw clear the issues so that there won’t be any future controversy over who credence should be given to.

Yesterday, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Issac Asiamah and his Deputy Enam Piaus Hadzide were accompanied by the Volta regional minister and chiefs of the Asogli Traditional Council to cut the sod for the construction of a Youth and Sports Resource Centre in the Adaklu District of the Volta region.
