In what would have been the definition of a disappointing season for the blues, Chelsea beat Southampton 2-0 with goals from Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata in the second half to set up a two straight finals with Manchester United in the converted Emirates FA Cup on Sunday.
[ads1]Chelsea played so well in the first half but their dominance was unable to count with Hazard and Willian hitting the woodwork.
Chelsea came back from the half to outdo them.
It was Olivier Giroud who put the blues forward few seconds into the 2nd half after being set up by Eden Hazard. The Frenchman kept his footing under intense pressure and slotted in the goal.
Southampton, on the other hand, pushed harder for an equaliser, having won most of the possession after Chelsea’s lead. But the introduction of Alvaro Morata, who came on for Willian, caused more harvoc.
Morata linked up well with Azpilicueta for the blue’s second with a powerful header, condemning Southampton to a second straight defeat to Chelsea after a 2-3 loss in the EPL, a fortnight ago.
Chelsea would now play Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United on Saturday 19th May, 2018 for the ultimate prize.
