Cole Palmer’s half-time substitution during Chelsea’s 3-0 win over Legia Warsaw in the Conference League was pre-planned, according to head coach Enzo Maresca.

Amid concerns of a recurring injury, Maresca clarified that both Palmer and Tosin were scheduled to play only 45 minutes.

Palmer, who has dealt with hamstring issues recently, was making his return to European competition after not being registered for the group stages.

Despite a goalless first half, Chelsea dominated the second, with Noni Madueke scoring twice and academy graduate Tyrique George netting the opener.

Maresca praised the professionalism of the performance and highlighted the importance of adapting to different types of opposition.

He also expressed admiration for young talent Josh Acheampong, calling him a potential top player for the club due to his versatility.
