Charterhouse has introduced strict access rules for the 2026 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) red carpet, limiting entry to invited celebrities and dignitaries.

This decision aims to improve organisation and restore the glamour that has been missing in previous editions. Over the years, industry stakeholders have criticised the TGMA red carpet for its lack of coordination and inconsistent fashion standards.

To address these concerns, Charterhouse is launching a two-tier red carpet format. The first section will be open for general media interviews and photoshoots. The main red carpet, however, will be strictly by invitation only and broadcast live, featuring high-profile interviews and style showcases.

In 2025, media personality Ola Michael called the red carpet “a marketplace,” blaming poor planning. Fashion entrepreneur Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD) also lamented the event’s low standards compared to similar shows in Nigeria and South Africa.

This new invitation-only approach reflects Charterhouse’s efforts to raise the bar and deliver a red carpet worthy of Ghana’s premier music awards.
