Jean Mensa, EC Chair

Ghana’s Electoral Commission under Jean Mensah is currently experiencing chaotic scenes as staff are up in arms against transfers they consider repressive, arbitrary, discriminatory and inordinate.

Ghanacrusader sources at the Commission have just confirmed almost all workers at the IT department have been transferred to other regions.

The transferred staff allege management has instead started the recruitment of people who are members of the governing New Patriotic Party to replace them in the IT department.

Some senior staff in other departments have also been transferred, our sources said.

As at the time of filing this report, the transferred workers were regrouping and recouping to determine a response to the arbitrary decision of management.

They told Ghanacrusader an explosive massive demonstration is on the cards.

Management of the electoral management body was not readily available for comment at the time of filing this report..

The EC has under 12 months to prepare for the elections in 2020 and political observers are worried these unrests at the commission can affect preparations.
