The Central Regional Chairman of NDC, Professor Richard Kofi Asiedu, has questioned the relevance of Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of NPP.

According to him, Chairman Wontumi’s derogatory remarks targeted at the revered Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang should not taken seriously in intellectual political discourse.

He added that Wontumi is on a suicidal mission just to remain relevant and seek attention from the NDC. Prof. Asiedu said Wontumi’s mischievous advances will never receive a response from the umbrella fraternity.

In an interview on Onua FM’s Yen Nsempa with Nana Yaa Brefo and Isaac Ekow JB, Prof. Asiedu opined that ” Chairman Wontumi is not a viable participant for intellectual discussion. His level of discourse does not align with mine”

“When we are having intellectual discussions, Wontumi is not a viable participant. You don’t expect a Professor like me to engage in political discourse with him at that level,” he stressed

He claimed Wontumi is always attempting to have public attention in the name of politics. Adding that despite Wontumi’s persistent efforts to score political points by targeting his words at top NDC members, he will not get attention.

Prof. Asiedu added that his focus is to win 20 parliamentary seats in the Central Region for the NDC in December.

Professor Asiedu made these comments in fierce response to allegations made by Chairman Wontumi against the NDC’s running mate, Jane Naana Opoku-Agyeman.

Chairman Wontumi questioned Prof. Opoku-Agyeman’s ethnicity and alleged a secret wedlock between her and former President John Dramani Mahama.

“I challenge Nana Opoku-Agyeman that she isn’t from the Central Region. She is from the Northern Region,” Wontumi claimed. He then alleged a secret marriage between Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyeman and Mahama in 2012.

In rebuttal, Prof. Asiedu debunked such unwarranted allegations aimed at painting the image of NDC black and soiling the reputation of Prof. Opoku-Agyemang ahead of the 2024 General Elections.

He noted that such palpable lies give more hope and strengthen public support for the NDC, and its candidate, John Dramani Mahama.

“The NPP talks too much and speaks out of proportion,” Professor Asiedu remarked. “Today, John Dramani Mahama is seen as a saint because everyone knows that lies were spoken about him in the past,” he stated.
