The Centre for Democratic Movement (CDM) has strongly condemned Presidential Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu for referring to Reverend John Ntim Fordjour as a “clown” in a tweet, describing the comment as “appalling” and damaging to the dignity of the Presidency.
The controversial remark was made on April 5, 2025, amid an ongoing national security debate concerning serious allegations of drug trafficking and money laundering involving aircraft passing through Ghanaian airspace.
In his tweet, Kwakye Ofosu wrote, “Osofo moko Ntimfordjour, what a clown!” — a statement that quickly sparked public backlash.
In an official statement, the CDM criticized the comment as a clear violation of the ethical standards expected of public officers and warned that such conduct undermines the integrity of the Presidency.
“It is appalling that a high-ranking government spokesperson would resort to insults in the face of serious national concerns. This behavior is not only unprofessional but also sets a dangerous precedent,” the CDM stated.
Reverend John Ntim Fordjour, a prominent figure and vocal advocate for transparency and accountability, has been outspoken about the need for greater scrutiny over national security matters.
His call for open investigations into the alleged misconduct has gained support from various civil society organizations.
The CDM urged President John Dramani Mahama to take immediate disciplinary action against Kwakye Ofosu and called for a public apology from the spokesperson.
The group emphasized that leadership in times of national uncertainty must be guided by discipline, respect, and statesmanship.
Additionally, the CDM reiterated its call for an independent and impartial investigation into the allegations of drug trafficking and money laundering, stressing the importance of transparency and adherence to the rule of law.
