Carolyn Wright runs for Lewisville City Council

[dropcap]A[/dropcap] social entrepreneur,  CEO/Founder of A-WOW Global Initiative, Carolyn Wright, has filed to contest for the City Council Place 1 on the Lewisville City Council for the May 6 election.

The seat became vacant following the demise of Leroy Vaughn, who died earlier this year.

The 54 philanthropist, said she has lived in Lewisville for about 30 years and best understands issues hence the best candidate to occupy the position.

‘As a long-term resident of Lewisville for more than thirty-one years I’ve watched children, schools, communities, and businesses grow. I am very proud to be a resident and considered it a privilege to live, work, and enjoy the city.’ – she said

According to her, she has “values having the opportunity to play a bigger role in the transformation and advancement of Lewisville future.”

Carolyn Wright, promises to be fair and consistent with the ordinances and resolutions of the City, laws of the State of Texas and the United States.

She said her, leadership skills help her bring innovation into Lewisville governance system.
“My leadership skills and international business acumen will afford the council an innovative outlook at the future of Lewisville.”

Who is Carolyn Wright?

She is the CEO and Founder of A-WOW Global Initiative (www.awownow.org)

A-WOW Global Initiative (A-WOW) is an organization committed to leadership development and enhancing cultural and socio-psychological change through the interactions between different cultures. These cultural exchanges foster and promote education, leadership, and innovation while at the same time collectively tackling issues of illiteracy, poverty and teen pregnancy among the most vulnerable populations in Ghana, Nigeria, Liberia, Costa Rica and the United States.

A-WOW works with emerging leaders ages 16-24 to build sustainable solutions for the next generation of leaders.

The organization’s approach is to utilize a variety of educational methodologies to promote life-skills, leadership development, innovation and entrepreneurial skills.

A-WOW has unique designed curriculum equip young women to successfully demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning which includes authentic leadership and character development, life skills and social competencies. Young women successfully exhibit personal and professional skills; these skills help them to act as resources, contributors, mentors, and volunteers in a variety of leadership role to help them become positive change agents for home, community, businesses and beyond.

As a non- governmental 501c3 and registered NGO, we aim to strengthen emerging leaders’ sense of self-worth, self-awareness, and desire for self-improvement. We assist young women in developing innovative ways to support and give back to their communities by forming beneficial relationships resulting in economic empowerment.
We believe young women need opportunities to express themselves in a world that makes them question who they are and what roles they should play as an adult. Our aims are to educate, empower, and enrich irrespective of social, religious or ethnic backgrounds.
