In 2016, Akufo-Addo emerged as the winner of the Presidential election.

There were several corruption allegations levelled against the NDC administration headed by John Mahama, which people believed. Many of the allegations were fabricated. Martin Amidu and other aggrieved members of the NDC also created an atmosphere against their government. Nana Akufo-Addo’s corruption free government promise was very important as many people voted him to power for that. But if you analyse his track record, it is abysmal and deplorable. The Akufo-Addo government is rated the most corrupt in the history of Ghana.

People have now realized that the Npp had lied to them by giving promises which they had no intention of fulfilling. Performance of Akufo-Addo is the agenda of the campaign this time. But, he has no answers on the development promises. Instead, he has shifted his focus on vague attacks and wrong propaganda about the NDC and the erstwhile Mahama administration. Lots of counter narratives are floating around. The NDC is asking and will ask him questions about anything and everything. The job of the opposition is to oppose, expose offer constrictive criticism and depose the government.

The mood of the nation has changed. The wave is against Akufo-Addo. The opposition has sensed that the incumbent can be defeated. There is a genuine fear that if a man like Akufo-Addo, with dictatorial tendencies, return to power, there will be a question mark on the future of our democracy. All their promises have fallen flat. Hence, they are effectively using methods of coercion and inducement.

Every discerning mind knows that the administration of Nana Akufo-Addo is not executing a credible holistic war against corruption because it is a product of corruption, surrounded by corrupt persons. It is indeed alarming and mind boggling that in just a period of three years, an administration that rode to power on claims of anti corruption credentials, has broken the record in constitutional violations, human right abuses, abuse of regulations, corruption and insecurity.

Corruption cannot fight corruption. A president that looks the other way while his family members, cronies and friends suffocate and strangle our homeland. When one party is caught up in fake news and fake scandals they can’t even see a real scandal when it hits them on the head. This is what is happening to the Akufo-Addo administration. There was never a time that the Mahama administration maltreated his political opponents and maltreated its critics. But in this present administration critics and political opponents cannot express themselves freely.

The advancement of ethics and moral values in good governance suggest legality of government action, rationality in policy and decision making, evolving a sense of responsibility, ensuring accountability, strengthening work commitment, creating excellence, showing compassion protecting the national interest, bringing transparency and elevating integrity. These are the values and virtues the current administration has failed to uphold. Holders of public offices should promote and support these core.

These critical issues will be ringing in the minds of Ghanaians as they walk to their polling stations

Mahama sold petrol at less than Ghc 20 while Akufo-Addo is selling at average of Ghc 25 and above.

Akufo-Addo has appointed more ministers and spending more of our taxes on them compared to Mahama.

The Atuabo gas saves Ghana Ghc 500 million annually and excess power being generated as a result of investment made in the energy sector by the Mahama administration is being sold to neighbouring countries

Mahama built so many schools and hospitals

Revenue from the oil sector has quadrupled as a result of prudent investment made in the sector by the Mahama administration

Ghana became the best place for doing business in West Africa under John Mahama and the best in terms of human development index.

More roads were constructed and rehabilitated under Mahama. Akufo-Addo abandoned roads started by the Mahama administration.

The world bank projected that the economy of Ghana will grow by 7-8 percent from 2017 due to the investment made in the oil and gas sector by the Mahama administration

Akufo-Addo has destroyed the Cedi.

Government has cancelled Mahama’s free distribution of fertilizer and hybrid seedlings (cocoa) to our farmers.

According to transparency international, Mahama’s record in terms of corruption is better than Akufo-Addo’s.

Akufo-Addo has appointed about 46 close family members into his administration unprecedented in the history of Ghana.

Apart from these critical issues, Ghanaians will also be seeking to know about the fake corruption allegations the Npp levelled against the NDC and why the administration hasn’t been able to substantiate their allegations.

What has happened to the promises they made on their campaign platforms and the assurances they gave Ghanaians. That fake incorruptibility tag candidate Akufo-Addo conferred on himself will also surface on the discussion table.

The President promised a no friends and family government. But records show that he is the most nepotistic President in the history of Ghana appointing over 120 friends, cronies, neighbours and family members, former wives and step children into his administration.

He also hammered on insecurity in Ghana. But insecurity in Ghana under his watch is unprecedented. Journalists, prominent and ordinary citizens, security personnel are being killed under his watch. Children and foreigners are being kidnapped daily under his watch.

Radio stations perceived to be anti government are being closed down by government and radio and television station owners intimidated to sack presenters who criticise the administration on their networks. The precise drivers of anti Akufo-Addo sentiment are well specified and his dominance eroded. If national elections are held today to elect our President and parliamentarians, the NDC and its Presidential candidate will emerge winners looking at the happenings in the country and the sentiments being expressed by Ghanaians
