The Ahafo Development Association and the Council of Ahafo Chiefs calls on President Nana Akufo-Addo to fulfill his promise for the creation of the new Ahafo Region.
This comes on the heels of last month when President Akufo-Addo visited the Acherensua Senior High School (SHS) in the Brong Ahafo Region as part of his two-day tour of the region. During his tour, promised the people that the processes leading up to the creation of the Ahafo Region would be completed within 18 months.
[ads1]“The time for the creation of the Ahafo region I promise you that within the next 18 months, the opportunity is going to be given for you to have the Ahafo region.” He said
According to the president of the Council of Ahafo Chief, Nana Yaw Adu Baa Ansah, the creation of Ahafo Region has been ongoing for the past 13 year and the need to accomplish the process is very essential.
Nana Yaw Adu Baa Ansah added that the new region would enhance Ghana’s decentralization process and strengthen grassroots participatory democracy as well as reducing the size of the Brong Ahafo Region into smaller unit and making it easier to administrate.
Speaking at a news conference at Bechem in the Tano South district, president of the Council of Ahafo Chief, Nana Yaw Adu Baa Ansah who is double as chief of Yamfo reiterated the need for the creation of Ahafo Region as it will enhance development.
He was adding voice to support the call of President of Ahafo Development Association, Yaw Owusu Berempong stated that they have resources to support government for the creation of the new Ahafo region.
