The Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) will be holding a meeting in Accra today, to determine the fate of Kenya and Cameroon as to whether these two countries can host the Championship for African Nations (CHAN) in 2018 and the Africa Cup of Nations in 2019.

CAF postponed their inspection visit to Kenya earlier this month due to uncertainty following the annulled presidential election in Kenya.

However, now that a new date of the 17 October has been set for the election re-run, the visit can go ahead.

According to reports CAF has put two countries on standby to take the rights should Kenya fail to meet deadline. Already Kenya are racing against time to get prepared for the tournament which kicks off in six months’ time and the political unrest in the country after the elections is not helping.

Morocco, Ethiopia and Cote d’Ivoire have expressed serious interest in hosting the tournament should Kenya lose the rights to host.

On the other hand, CAF at the meeting will also be considering if Cameroon will be able to host the 24-teams in the next AFCON.

President Ahmad as already stated that Cameroon isn’t ready to welcome even four teams to the AFCON.

CAF had earlier postponed it inspection mission to Cameroon in August. Ahmad says Cameroon needs to convince CAF if it can host the AFCON.

These agenda and many other matters will be brought up when the Executive Committee meets in Ghana where some key decisions will be taken.

The meeting will be chaired by the President of the Association Ahmad Ahmad.

The delegation is expected to pay a courtesy call on His Excellency the President Nana Akufo Addo at the Flagstaff House on September 22, a day before some official meetings.

They will also attend the Alhaji Sly Tetteh memorial lectures which will be held in Accra.

The entire delegation will then travel to Cape Coast where they will watch the final match of the WAFU Cup of Nations tournament which will be hosted by Ghana.

The CAF delegation is expected to depart on September 25.
