The Deputy Central Regional Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Joseph Abakah Mensah, also known as Commander 1, has issued a stern warning to the Minister of Agriculture, Bryan Acheampong, for his inflammatory remarks suggesting that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will use any means necessary to win the upcoming elections.
Speaking at a rally in Nsawam on Sunday, August 11, Mr. Acheampong stated that the ruling NPP would do whatever it takes to retain power in the upcoming December 7 presidential election.
“So, we would do whatever it takes to win the elections. We are a political party that has pastors, imams, and traditionalists so whatever means we would take to win the elections, we would do so,” Mr. Acheampong said.
In an interview on Obrapa FM‘s “NDC Hour”, the NDC executive boldly declared that the Agric Minister lacked the courage to back up his words and would be the first to congratulate John Mahama on his inevitable victory in the December 7 polls.
He emphasized that while the NDC is committed to a peaceful election, they will not hesitate to stand up to any violence or intimidation tactics employed by the opposition.
He also questioned the silence of the Peace Council on Mr. Acheampong’s provocative comments, arguing that their inaction could have dire consequences for the country.
