Nana Addo has just been caught pants down trying to syphon money from the public purse through fraudulent renegotiation deal.
The quest of president Nana Addo to recoup all monies he has invested in his campaign since 2007 as quickly as he can from the public purse is insatiable.
In 2015, the erstwhile John Mahama administration signed the Ameri [ads1]power deal as a recipe for the erratic power problem in the country then. This deal is supposed to cost the country $510m and the then opposition led by Nana Addo Akufo-Addo made so much noise about it. It became a major campaign point prior to the 2016 general election. They said among other things that the deal was fraudulent and they threatened to cancel it if voted into power.
Many electorates fell for their veil propaganda and voted for them and they won. A committee was constituted to look into this Ameri deal and surprisingly, the very company they went to investigate for shortchanging Ghana was the one that sponsored an all expenses paid trip to Dubai for members of the committee to go and investigate the deal.
Per the reports from their investigations, it was alleged that the contract was overpriced by $150m. Per this accession, one will expect that the price of the contract will be reduced if they want to renegotiate it. However, this wasn’t the case, the renegotiated price rather went up from $510m to $1.3b with the contract period extended from 5years to 15years!
From all indications, the new Ameri deal is far more dubious and fraudulent than the previous one. Thanks to the vigilance of the able minority in parliament for exposing this stinking corrupt new deal.
What got most Ghanaians talking was the president who made so much noise about this deal while in opposition was quick to sign and give his approval for this rather dubious deal. When Nana Addo was caught they came with the lame excuse that he was misled into signing the deal. Like seriously? Is he serious? A contract of that nature the president couldn’t take his time to read through and interrogate details of the contract. This has far gone to confirm the incompetency of the president.
By the way, who misled him into signing that agreement? Is/Are the person(s) still at post?
Ghanaians wouldn’t buy into that lame excuse that the president was misled into signing the agreement. One thing which was clear is that Nana Addo and his government was caught pants down trying to syphon money from the public purse through fraudulent and dubious means.
