Professor Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi, a renowned Ghanaian academician and politician, has been taken into custody by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) at Kawukudi, near 37 Military Hospital in the Greater Accra region.
The reasons behind his detention remain unclear, sparking widespread speculation and concern. However, unconfirmed sources said his arrest may be in connection with the botched Sky Train deal with a South African firm.
Meanwhile, the legal team of Professor Ameyaw-Akumfi is working tirelessly to secure his release.
Lawyers are currently at the NIB offices in Kawukudi, striving to obtain bail for the professor, a former Minister for Railway, Ports and Harbours and MP for Techiman North.
The National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) has not released an official statement regarding the reasons for Professor Ameyaw-Akumfi’s detention.
